A new £92 million educational campus near Wembley Stadium highlights the importance of sustainable design and adaptive reuse in London construction.
Willmott Dixon has been awarded the contract to construct a £92 million campus for the College of North West London at Wembley Park, marking a significant development in the London Borough of Brent. The project involves transforming a long-disused building into a vibrant educational and community hub, situated just steps from the iconic national stadium. This redevelopment forms part of a broader strategy by the United Colleges Group to consolidate operations from two existing sites within Brent, enabling more efficient use of space and resources.
The new eight-storey campus will encompass 14,200 square metres of internal space, thoughtfully designed around three stacked horizontal volumes. Vocational workshops will occupy the lower floors, supporting specialist training needs, while a central student hub will open onto a landscaped deck overlooking Wembley Way. Teaching spaces will be located on the upper levels, connected by a full-height atrium that promotes natural light and spatial openness. The project aims to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental performance.
